I have used something that might be better than iTunes and it is called Amarok.
- It’s UI is fast and friendly and lets you “spin-up” playlists quickly.
- It can look and feel like iTunes AND WinAmp, and even at the same time, if you like.
- It’s themable, skinnable, and all that jazz.
- You can trip out to multiple visualizers at the same time.
- It’s plugged-in to the open-source MusicBrainz music metadatabase.
- It uses Amazon.com’s web services to download track information, artwork, etc. without giving you guff
- It’s plugged-in to last.fm as well.
- It works with multiple music devices.
- It’s plugged-in to Wikipedia.
- It has a scripting system that’s 100% better than AppleScript.
- You can set it to use an external MySQL database for your own hacking purposes.
- Podcast support works flawlessly.
And so on. If you can get your hands on a Linux distro, give it a try. Highly recommended.

I’m not to surprised the scripting support is better. Not too hard to beat applescript IMO.

Amarok rocks, eh? Another cool thing about it is even tho its a kde app it works flawlessly in gnome as far as I can tell. I didnt even think to try it since I prefer gnome until I saw someone point that out on a forum.
